In this MetWinds concert, listeners are transported to exciting locales around the world! Young composer Steve Danyew's Vermont's State Fair captures all the excitement of the fair (including carnival barkers!). City life along the Thames River inspired Gustav Holst's extended masterpiece Hammersmith, while Ireland's countryside is evoked in Percy Grainger's Irish Tune from County Derry. A Halloween graveyard party is brought to life in the classic Danse Macabre by French composer Camille Saint-Saens, while American march king John Phillip Sousa paints a holiday stroll along New York's Manhattan Beach. This musical journey comes to a close with a Rumba dance party, courtesy of George Gershwin's Cuban Overture.
