Become a Member

MetWinds rehearsals are held every Wednesday at the St. John of Damascus Church in Dedham, MA from 7:30pm-9:45pm from September through June. Both regular members and call players audition for seating placement. Regular members are expected to attend rehearsals and support the artistic goals of the group through regular practice and achieving proficiency against their assigned parts.

Auditioning for Membership

General auditions for our concert season are held in late August and early September.

After an audition, you may be selected for either regular membership in MetWinds or as a call player.

Current Openings

There are current openings for the following sections:

  • oboe
  • clarinet
  • bass clarinet (1 year leave)
  • alto saxophone
  • horn
  • trumpet

There are currently openings for call players in all sections except flute.

Call Player List

MetWinds maintains a roster of call players for all instruments. These players are invited to fill in when regular members are not available. This could be for a rehearsal, a series of rehearsals, a dress rehearsal and concert, or an entire concert cycle, depending on the need. We are currently seeking call players for all sections.

Call players are an important part of MetWinds community and many call players have later joined as regular members as openings occurred. We invite you to audition to become a call player.

Non-Musician? You Can Still Help!

MetWinds is always looking for volunteers ("friends") to help at concerts with ticket sales and managing our facility. For helping keep things running smoothly, friends receive free admission to our concerts! Also, we are always on the lookout for energetic people who are interested in helping us guide and run our organization by joining our Board of Directors.
